After parking for the night, we'll still have time for a little racing

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'.....

Well, maybe that should read "Crawlin', Crawlin', Crawlin'...."

Got the tow plate put on Zippy yesterday and towed it roughly 500 yards back to the RV place.  Woohoo....didn't hit anything, didn't kill anyone, didn't roll the RV.  All in all, it was a good day.

While I was waiting for Zippy to get fixed up, I took the Beast out for a drive.  It's getting easier but I'm still having problems with left hand turns.  Also right hand turns.  Curves in the road too.  I'm really getting the hang of driving down straight stretches though.  I figure I'll do really well on the prairies.  Too bad there are all those pesky mountains in the way (although I suppose going straight up and then straight down is still going straight).

  1. I would suggest you take a course, of course. Course, that's up to you, of course. ;-)
    Good luck!

  2. Taking corners, as I understand it, is mainly a matter of turning the wheel the correct way while manipulating your speed. I'm willing to be corrected.

  3. Luckily I'll be there to help with the driving... Now, I've never driven an RV before but it can't be that different to my Yaris. Or, we can leave Vancouver and just go straight until we hit the Mexican border then ask someone to point us north east. There are no problems, only opportunities..

  6. On making those turns...go S-L-O-W (does less damage when ya hit stuff). The RIGHT turns you need to swing wide SLOWLY so it's not a big jolt when you climb over the sidewalk curb or thwack the utility post. Left hand turns are easier, you are already swinging wide, so no worries. Go slow, so everyone can admire your RV as you left turn too.

  7. Have ANY of you ever driven with Nui Loa "the Queen of Speed" I got a tour of Stanley Park in 48 seconds flat...that included time for a picture... I suspect she'll be painting flames on the side of the beast before we hit Montana..haha
Slow is not what she does.... but have no fear, I am here to guide her through this. (These rigs do have air bags, right?)
